Halloween 4 - Stranger Things - 2017

The 2017 event coincided with the release of Stranger Things Season 2 on Netflix. The rest of the social committee planned a Stranger Things party in the office with the broadcast of the first episode of the new season in the office afterwards. I was asked to plan the event around this theme.

The show is set in the early 80s, long before the world wide web was developed and at a time when some of the most popular home computer games were still text adventures. This year I started early, learned to use "Inform" and created a game that could be hosted in a site (with graphics). The result is pleasing.

The text adventure uses simple verb + noun inputs such as "open box" or "open the box". "Get", "Take", "Drop" etc are also valid actions as well as many others. There are also standard shortcuts which you can use rather than typing whole words:

"I" = Inventory, "X" = eXamine, "L" = Look and "N S E W U D" are the cardinal compass directions as well as Up and Down.
